United Way of Fresno Operation Shape Up Oct. 18

The annual United Way of Fresno County Operation: Fresno Shape Up event will be held Saturday, October 18th at Warmerdamn Field at Fresno State, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m..

Approximately 300 children will work out with trainer Steve Sobonya, MMA Fighter Lavar Johnson, Pro Boxer Jenifer Alcorn, Current Fresno State Athletes and other former pros.

The purpose of the event is to get children active and teach them about simple exercises and nutrition that they can use at home.

George from Children’s Hospital, Timeout from Fresno State and Parker from the Fresno Grizzlies will all be out working with the children,

This is a Free event and includes breakfast, lunch and a Live United T-shirt for all the participants.

The annual Civil War Revisited takes place October 18th and 19th at Historic Kearney Park, located at 7160 West Kearney Boulevard west of Fresno.

Event tickets are available at the gate and are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 5-12 and kids under 5 are free.

Admission includes parking.

Global War On Terrorism Wall of Remembrance Nov. 13-16

Help us Honor Our Fallen Heroes and bring the "Wall of Remembrance" to Clovis, the Wall is a tribute to all the heroes that have made the ultimate sacrifice in the war against terrorism.

The Wall not only honors our Military but also our first responders, Firefighters, Law Enforcement and Emergency Personnel. Currently, there are almost 11,000 names on the wall!

The Wall of Remembrance was created to help heal those hidden wounds. It's mission is to reach all those impacted by Global Terrorism here at home.

The wall will be at Clovis Hills Community Church November 13th through November 16th.

On Saturday, November 15th, there will be a Military Health and Resource Fair from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Clovis Hills Community Church is located at 10590 N. Willow Avenue near Copper Avenue, across from Clovis North High School.

(Washington) – On Thursday, October 16, 2014, the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) will hold a Regional Future Leaders Conference at California State University Fresno. The conference brings Members of Congress, Government officials, corporate executives and community leaders to inspire and promote public service, leadership and entrepreneurship among today’s students. The conference centers on current issues affecting the Hispanic community, and the global arena. The conference concludes with a networking luncheon allowing students an opportunity to meet and interact with speakers, sponsors and leaders. Information on scholarships, internships and entry-level jobs will also be available.

Ryan Stiner is training to do a solo run from San Francisco to Fresno, traveling 190 miles in 10 days.

The run is raise money and awareness for autism with proceeds going to The Autism Center at Fresno State.
