Where To See Fall Foliage

Where To See Fall Foliage

It’s time to enjoy Fall colors in our backyard. CaliforniaFallColor.com has this to say about Yosemite National Park:

The famed exotic sugar maple beside the Yosemite Chapel has shed most of its ruby leaves and sections of the Tioga Road are now past peak.  Isolated stands of yellow aspen can be seen from the Tioga Road down Tenaya Canyon.

The color is descending toward Yosemite Valley.  There, black oak, dogwood and bigleaf maple have not yet begun to show much color, though the area surrounding Fern Spring at the west entrance to the valley is the first to brighten.

In the heart of Yosemite Valley, the black oak are still green, though they approach peak at Halloween and their black branches are typically dressed in bold orange leaves by the first of November.

Fall Food Drive for Catholic Charities

Fall Food Drive for Catholic Charities

San Joaquin Memorial will be participating in the 2014 Fall Food Drive for Catholic Charities.

Rather than the usual food drives, this year it is our goal to bring in as many complete family of four Thanksgiving meals as possible.

This includes donating the following items:

  • $10 for a turkey
  • 1 can of cranberries
  • 2 cans of yams
  • 2 cans of green beans
  • 2 boxes of stuffing
  • 2 boxes of mashed potatoes
  • 1 can of chicken broth
  • 1 can of gravy
  • 1 bag of nuts
  • 1 can of olives

On Friday, October 24, encourage your family and friends to bring their food donations to the Memorial vs. Bullard football game.

Cans will be collected at the entrance to the football stadium. The donor will receive $1 off their admission ticket to the football game.
